People today don’t quite realize the toll that environmental pollution is taking on their health. The build up of impurities inside our bodies can lead to all sorts of odd symptoms – weight gain, bad skin (even as an adult!), unusual headaches, muscle aches, bloating and gas, and a weakened immune system – all of which can lead to more serious illnesses down the road.
This is why it’s a good idea to do a detox diet at least once or twice a year. A detox diet can clear your body of all the built-up impurities, and get you back on track health-wise. While each detox diet varies in its particular approach, there are a few of things you should keep in mind.
The first is pretty basic – follow the directions. It’s worth mentioning because not following the directions can cause harm to your system. Also, once you start on the diet, follow it through. Stopping halfway can leave toxins and impurities just hanging around in your system instead of being cleaned out, which in turn, can cause illness.
Secondly, be sure to drink plenty of water. Skip the caffeine and the sugary sodas because these types of drinks can dehydrate you. Your body needs its daily requirement of fluid in order to effectively flush out impurities.
Third, it’s always a good idea to pick up an anti-oxidant supplement while on a detox diet. If your diet comes with a supplement, then check to see if it includes anti-oxidants. When your body goes to clean out impurities, all sorts of free radicals can get loose in your system and cause damage. Anti-oxidants will protect you from this.
By going on a detox diet once or twice a year, you can give your body the chance to clean out toxins that would otherwise accumulate and cause serious diseases. It will also help you drop a few pounds, and give you more energy. All in all, a detox diet is a good thing to do.
